Law degree 1981 from Padua University, Italy, cum laude. Court Judge between 1981-1997, drafting a number of decisions in environmental law published on major Journals and Law Reviews. Joined the Verona Bar Association in 1998, and became partner of B&P- Avvocati in the same year. From 2000, contract professor of international environmental law at Padua University (Faculty of Engineering – Environmental Engineering).

Luciano Butti specialises in all aspects of Italian and international environmental law.

Throughout his academic career, he taught several post-graduate courses organized by the Scuola Superiore S. Anna (Pisa), the Universities of Ferrara, Bologna, Rome (Luiss), Verona and Venice (Venice International University). Moreover, he lectured in a number of courses for lawyers and judges, organized by the Higher Judicial Council (Consiglio Superiore della Magistratura - CSM) and by the Bar Association (Ordine degli Avvocati) and for several European Research Centres.

He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the “Rivista giuridica dell’ambiente” and of the International Advisory Board of Sardinia 2007 (International Waste Management and Landfill Symposium). For several years he has been a member of the Committee for the certification of the Environmental management systems of the Det Norske Veritas - Italy.

External professional activities:

In B&P, he is responsible for the firm's research projects and teaching activities. He provides legal assistance and counsel to a wide variety of public and private entities and handles litigation before the national high Courts, such as the Court of Cassation.

He is the author of several books and articles in English and Italian and has been a teacher for several seminars and courses, in the fields of Italian, European and International environmental law.
